Finding viable childcare options has been a challenge over the last few years and even more difficult thanks to the pandemic. My family experienced periods of no viable childcare options which led to me taking leave from work to care for my tiny explorers which was not ideal and not an option for many parents. I was excited to spend extra time with my little ones and also a bit panicked to come up with activities since just sitting around the house isn’t really my thing.

I wanted to use the extra time with my tiny explorers to help foster their development and make our time together memorable. My planning skills were in high gear to find safe and fun activities that took COVID into consideration. I managed to find some great hidden gems for us to explorer!

Here’s just a few:

Drive Through Zoofari

  • If your tiny explorers love animals this is a really fun and educational activity the entire family can enjoy. You can make a day out of it. I discovered several drive through zoos and safaris across the country. Thankfully, we found one within driving distance from our home. Definitely check your local area to see what options exists near you or consider a road trip if you’re feeling adventurous.

Sky Zone Trampoline Park

  • I heard of Sky Zone and other similar establishments before. What I learned is that they offer toddler time. The entire place is closed off to toddlers for typically two hours. It’s wonderful; especially if your little one is really active and needs to burn off some energy. Definitely check out available times and of course their sanitization regiment and COVID restrictions. If you want to integrate some educational activities talking about gravity and balance are very relevant topics.

Nature Center

  • Learning about the outdoors and nature is very important for tiny explorers. There is so much to explore from animals to plants, different seasons and so much more. Many nature centers are not very busy and have a wealth of educational material already available. Some even offer virtual activities and programs. There are several hundred nature centers across the US and most offer very scenic walking trails so its also good exercise. My tiny explorers enjoyed learning about so many topics and came home wanting a pet turtle!
